Golden Globe Awards bought by investor Todd Boehly

Hollywood and the movie industry have been shaken up after wealthy investor Todd Boehly bought the Golden Globe Awards. He owns several movie magazines including Variety and Reporter, as well as several hotels including the Beverly Hilton, where the Golden Globe Awards ceremony is held annually, which are considered the most important international movie awards after the Oscars. The new owner confirms that his goal is to expand the scope of the awards globally.

What raises some concerns is that the Golden Globe Awards were owned by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a non-profit organization, and all the profits it made went to promote films and help American universities that teach cinema, acting and photography, while now the awards are owned by one of the companies of investor Todd Boehly and the goal will be financial profit. It has been announced that the Golden Globe ceremony will be held as usual at his Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills and the award will be voted on as usual by senior journalists and members of the Foreign Press Association and the ceremony will be held on January 7, 2024. However, the big difference in this ceremony from previous years is the number of voters, as in the past the number did not exceed 85, while this time the number will be much more. Everyone in Hollywood is waiting to see the impact of the sale on artists and artistic life.
