Hollywood paralyzed as Screen Actors Guild strike

The Hollywood art sector is paralyzed after the Actors Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture Television Producers announced that negotiations had reached a dead end with production companies and studios, demanding that they raise their wages to confront inflation, and provide guarantees in the event that their work is harmed by the use of artificial intelligence programs.

The Actors Guild, which has more than 160,000 members, has joined the Writers Guild, which has been on strike for two months. All of this has affected the wheel of work and the economy in Hollywood, which relies heavily on film and television production for its budget. The halt in filming is not limited to actors and writers only, but also negatively affects other sectors such as those working in the beauty and makeup sector, construction workers for setting up sets, the food and restaurant supply sector, and other sectors, and this is a major blow on the economic level, after the repercussions of the Corona pandemic. The impact will not be limited to film production only, but international film festivals will be affected due to the actors’ refusal to participate in them.
