The Most Beautiful Princess Has Passed

Beautiful, intelligent, elegant, kind, optimistic, bold in speaking the truth, patriotic, and in love with Lebanon, she is the late Princess Mona Al-Solh.

I knew Princess Mona since I was young, as she was a friend of my father, Badih Serbey, and my mother Nadia Salam for decades, to the point that they named my younger sister Mona after the princess. We used to meet her in Beirut, Paris, London, and Cairo. Our sessions were always full of talk about politics and the homeland, and flavored with her cheerful spirit, as one cannot be in the company of Princess Mona without a smile being imprinted on your face.

My father used to precede her name whenever he published her pictures at events in Lebanon in his political magazine "Kol Shay" with the title 'The most beautiful princess', as she was not only beautiful in her features but also beautiful in her dealings with national and political issues, and she would say her opinion and the truth with vividness.

She carried in her heart the love of Lebanon, which she inherited along with her sisters, the late Alia Al-Solh, Princess Lamia, Mrs. Bahija and Minister Leila from her father, one of the heroes of Lebanon's independence, the late Riad Al-Solh and the first Prime Minister at the dawn of independence.

Over the years, I witnessed her positions defending Lebanon and patriotism without fear. I conducted a long interview with her, published in episodes in Al-Mawed magazine, in which she spoke about her father, her upbringing, Lebanon and her son, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, who has given a lot to Lebanon, over the decades, through the Al-Waleed bin Talal Humanitarian Foundation, which he established in 2003 and in which Minister Leila Al-Solh serves as Vice President.

The memory of the late Princess Mona will always fill our hearts.
