Hussein Fahmy — Cinema, His First Love
Since his youth, the star Hussein Fahmy has been passionate about cinema. He studied directing at UCLA and worked in American film studios. When he returned to Cairo, he took up acting and became a famous movie star. He always made a point of attending the Cannes Film Festival events, which used to be held at the Palais Croisette on the waterfront, before moving to where they are held today at the Palais des Festivals.
This photograph was taken of the late editor-in-chief of Al-Mawed magazine, Muhammad Badih Serbey, with Hussein Fahmy at the Cannes Film Festival in 1990, where the film "Alexandria Again and Forever" was screened in the "Directors' Fortnight" competition, and Hussein was one of the film's stars.
Throughout the festival, he would participate in events, meet international stars, and delve into the finest details of cinematic works. On one occasion, he was asked about his first love, and he said jokingly… "Cinema."
