What happened on the wedding day of Nour El-Sherif and Boussy?
The late star Nour El-Sherif is one of the artists who presented many films that influenced Egyptian and Arab cinema. In an interview with the late editor-in-chief of Al-Mawed magazine, Badih Serbey, Nour El-Sherif talked about the story of his engagement to Boussy and how he saved himself from arrogance:
“The first time I saw Boussy, it was on TV in a children’s program called (Bandak and Loz). Then when I saw her in person for the first time, I said to myself, I will marry this girl because she is sweet and gentle. We met on a TV show called (Cairo and People), and from here our story began and continued for three years despite her family’s objection.
At that time, I became a bit arrogant because of fame and money. I no longer cared about my work, and my problems and rumors increased, so we separated. But after a while, I realized that nightlife and entertainment were not my life, so I went back to Boussy and asked her to get married immediately.
I bought an engagement ring with the small amount I had, and I bequeathed the house furniture on credit. But on the day of the marriage contract, I discovered that I did not have a penny in my pocket to pay the expenses of the marriage registrar who would conduct the marriage contract. So I told Boussy about the matter, and without her family knowing, I sold the ring, and she borrowed a ring from a friend of hers, and we got married.”
