Restoring an Al-Mawed Video Ad From 1974
On the 23rd anniversary of Al-Mawed, the late editor-in-chief of Al-Mawed magazine, Badih Serbey produced a promotional film where the stars browse Al-Mawed through its old and new issues, in addition to tours in the studios of Lebanese TV where the best Arab series and talk shows were filmed, and in the film sets in Lebanon. At the time, the movie “Bye Bye, Sweetheart” was being filmed, starring Rushdi Abaza and Miss Universe Georgina Rizk, and directed by Atef Salem.
The film is in French with Arabic subtitles and was created by the famous Baalbek Studio. It was shown in Lebanese cinemas during the month of December 1974.
The trailer features the following stars: Sabah, Dalida, Noha Al-Khatib Saadeh, Georgette Sayegh, singer Joseph Azar, media figure Riad Sharara, former head of the Lebanese Artists Syndicate Ihsan Sadek, singer Elie Choueiri, and other artists.
The restoration was from a 35mm showprint that was scanned at 4K by Cinelab London. Video was restored internally by Al-Mawed experts.
