An unfinished melody from the musician of generations for Najat Al Saghira

When I interviewed the musician of generations, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, in 1991, fate wanted it to be his last interview. During it, we talked about a variety of topics, and I remember that I asked him a question about the tunes he had finished composing, and he answered me that they were tunes in preparation and not all of them were complete, and when I asked him who he nominated to sing them from among the female singers, he told me Warda and Najat.

"The warm voice", which is the nickname given to the singer Najat Al Saghira by the late editor-in-chief of Al Mawed, Badih Serbey, was one of the musician’s favorite singers. He used to call her whenever he agreed on a melody with her, to inform her that the melody was completely finished and to set a date for rehearsals. Together, they presented masterpieces of Arabic singing. Mohamed Abdel Wahab passed away, and the melody he prepared for Najat Al Saghira never saw the light of day.

I know that the great singer has stopped singing, but how beautiful it would have been if the melody had been searched for, and if she had returned even once with a melody from the melodies of the musician of generations, even if it was not complete, so that the good currency in art would drive out the bad currency, contrary to the famous economic principle, the law of Gresham, which says that bad money drives out good money from the market. The Arab audience longed for the songs that were rich in art, and they still have in their memory and in their hearts everything that they repeated and memorized from the giants across the generations.
