Badih Serbey lives in the memory of his loved ones
Although 29 years have passed since his departure, Badih Serbey still resides in memory and hearts. On October 6, the anniversary of his departure, the pains of sadness are mixed with the joy of memories, and I realize that my father, no matter how long his absence and separation are, is still vibrant in visions and hopes, in words and approaches. The ink of his pen still defends the school he founded in journalism in the elegance of words and beauty of style, the creation of creativity and freedom of expression, and the elevation of righteousness and truth. He enriched the written press at its highest levels over a period of forty-five years, with the masterpieces of his writings. Despite the passing of the years, he is still alive in the hearts of his readers and loved ones.

He was unique in his style, through his political articles, in his political magazine, (Kol Shay), where he defended the homeland and its issues, biased towards truth and freedom. He also carried the banner of Arab issues, and was able to achieve several journalistic breakthroughs, including: conducting a press interview with the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser in light of rumors that spoke of his severe illness and his withdrawal from the political arena. This was the press interview that was transmitted at the time by news agencies, which refuted all the rumors.

Kol Shay continued to achieve success in Lebanon and the Arab world until the outbreak of the Lebanese war. He continued to publish the magazine (Kol Shay) until it stopped publishing, and he re-published it for two years in the late eighties. As for Al-Mawed magazine, he published it in 1953 and achieved great success with it, it achieved wide circulation in the Arab world, and it was the reliable reference for the accuracy of the news. He was not only a transmitter of events, but often a maker of them, a writer, critic and analyst. He accompanied the giants in art at the beginning of their careers and had many friends among them. His slogan was "Art journalism is not a show of extravagance, but a means of bringing the masses entertainment that charges souls with optimism."

He revealed many secrets and hidden things, but he did not trade them and they were never a subject of bargaining. As for the journalistic victories and exclusives that he achieved during his journalistic career, they were countless. He was the first to honor artists and distribute trophies to them after conducting a referendum for the stars chosen by Al-Mawed readers. He launched stars and young talents, and gave titles to giants that are still attached to their names to this day. He also issued the magazine (Noura), which was the first magazine to tell Arab illustrated stories with Arab actors and Arab writers. It was customary at the time to publish foreign illustrated stories and translate them into Arabic. Then Noura turned into an artistic, social, women's, and comprehensive magazine.
