Fifi Abdo and the popular galabiya

The most prominent thing that the star Fifi Abdo excelled at was dancing in a traditional dress and with a cane. I remember one day that Al-Mawed magazine published a picture of the late great star Omar Sharif participating with Fifi in dancing with a cane at the Mena House Hotel in Cairo.

The picture received a great response, to the point that one of the famous photo agencies asked to buy it. On my wedding day, which was held in Cairo, I remember very well that the "Lady of the Arab Screen", a title that my father gave to the late star Faten Hamama, told him that she had not attended any of Fifi Abdo’s shows and that she was eager to see her dancing in a galabiya and with a cane at the wedding, and that is what happened. I still have the video in which the great star applauds Fifi Abdo, who greeted her in her spontaneous, popular way.

This photo was the cover of Fifi Abdo in issue No. 794 of Al-Mawed magazine, published on February 2, 1978.

This image has been converted from the original medium format film, resulting in a sharp and detailed image.
