Nadia El Gendy in Paris

The first time I met the star Nadia El Gendy was in Paris, and I remember that my father, Badih Serbey, used to go every morning to the "Fouquet's" café on the Champs-Elysees, near our house, to have coffee and buy Arabic newspapers from a small shop opposite the café. One time he called me and asked me to bring his camera, and I actually went to the café, and he was chatting with the star Nadia El Gendy, and they were talking about cinema and films.

Then there was a series of photos in Paris of the "star of the masses", published at the time in Al-Mawed magazine, and I remember that in one of the shots Nadia El-Gendy stood with the Arc de Triomphe behind her, and the French passersby were greeting her and she was responding in fluent French, as she had studied French at the French Lycée school in Cairo.

This photo was the cover of Nadia El-Gendy in issue No. 608 of Al-Mawed magazine, published on May 2, 1974.

This image has been converted from the original medium format film, resulting in a sharp and detailed image.
