Good Morning Lebanon
Today is the 80th anniversary of Lebanon's independence, and on this day forty-one years ago, issue 1024 of Al-Mawed magazine was published in 1982 on the 39th anniversary of Lebanon's independence.
At the time, it did not carry a date because the photography and editing department had been completely destroyed, and three missiles had hit the printing presses. As for the offices in Ras Al-Nabaa, they had suffered some fire and destruction. After the issue was completed, it was shipped by land, and it was not certain whether it would be possible to publish the next issue.
With the silence of the cannons and the election of President Amin Gemayel as President of the Republic, the Lebanese were optimistic at the time about the birth of a new Lebanon after long years of war. In the cover photo, Sabah holds the Lebanese flag with the title... "Good morning Lebanon".
At the time, she told the editor-in-chief of Al-Mawed magazine, Badih Serbey: "When peace and calm return to Lebanon, I will never leave it and I will make up for all the long years of exile, during which it is true that I gained a lot of moral and material success, but Lebanon is irreplaceable, and this is what I announce in a popular song that I sing at the beginning of all my concerts."
During her artistic career, Sabah presented many patriotic songs, including “Thank you, Lebanon’s soldiers” | "Teslam Ya 3Askar Lebnan" with lyrics and music by the late musician Zaki Nassif, which is considered one of the most beautiful Lebanese patriotic songs.
