The late great artist Warda
The late great artist Warda was filming the movie (Al Nagham Al Saeed) which was later renamed (Sawt Al Hob) which starred her and Hassan Youssef.
One day, Warda entered the Al Ahram studio with her assistant and a large quantity of pots filled with Algerian, Egyptian and Lebanese food that she learned from her Lebanese mother from the Yamout family in Beirut. The food was placed in her room and Warda invited the director Helmy Rafla and the film crew to eat what she had cooked.
Everyone congratulated Warda on her skill in cooking, even the late artist Emad Hamdi asked her for recipes for some of the dishes, as he was known for his love and skill in cooking. As for the artist Hassan Youssef, he expressed his admiration for the food with his cheerful spirit, joking with her, saying: “Can you marry me on the condition that you cook for me every day?” Warda looked at him smiling and said: “Thank God you are joking,” and everyone laughed as they enjoyed Warda’s cooking.
A few days later, her marriage contract was signed to the late artist Baligh Hamdi. On the same day, Warda had to go to the studio to complete filming, so she went with her groom and they were welcomed with ululations and drums. One of the workers congratulated them on their marriage, saying to Baligh: “You are lucky to marry a big star and a first-class cook.”
