Omar Khorshid & Mervat Amin on vacation
Al-Mawed magazine took this photo in Cairo in 1972 of the late guitarist Omar Khorshid and his wife at the time, the star Mervat Amin. Their marriage was short-lived, lasting only about a year.
Omar Khorshid said in an interview with Al-Maw’ed magazine in 1977 about their marriage: “Mirvat and I were in the best state of love and harmony, but there was a fundamental problem in our lives, which was that we were lost to each other. We only met by chance or on special occasions, and my trips abroad were many.”
When I am in Egypt, my time is divided between photography studios, and when I return home, she is also filming. We tried to organize our appointments, but we failed and our married life collapsed.
Omar Khorshid died on May 29, 1981, at the age of 36, in a traffic accident on Haram Street in Cairo. The world of music lost an artistic phenomenon that has never been repeated. May God have mercy on the magician of the guitar, Omar Khorshid.
